Encouraging tolerance is better than ridding the world of religion.

I actually didn't argue that at all. I said Christianity contains more immoral lessons than moral lessons, which is true. I know Christians tend to be more moral than not because they cherry pick only the things they want to believe in.

If you're using the "religion can be a base for morals just as much as it can be a starter of wars" argument to combat mine, then yes you are.

You have no idea how much you just contradicted yourself with that statement.

Atheists can start wars just as easily as Christians. Morals can be instilled easily without religion too. I'm not saying that it's a necessity, but it can be a boon. I'd say immorality is shown quite often. Lessons encouraging immorality? Not as much. Maybe stuff about stoning homosexuals is what you're talking about. If you want to limit wars, in regards to religion (or in general), practicing tolerance is a good start.

I myself never claimed that 97% of scientists believe in global warming, but what I did say, was that there was a general concensus amongst scientists[1] that climate change is not a myth. There are two facts here. One, CO2 levels are rising[2]. Two, the rise of CO2 levels is impacting the environment[3][4][5][6][7][8].

Do you have an argument other than the 97% figure I never highlighted? Because so far I've seen nothing but a twisting of my words and a paragraph of whining.

The reason I focused on the 97% figure is because you called me out and talking about majority of scientists. With that said, my position isn't as extreme as you think.. I do believe that there is climate change that effects our environment, what I have yet to see the evidence of, is whether the US government can actually do anything to stop it. The way I see it, it makes for an easy way to make a lot of money by taxing the shit out of big business i.e. carbon credits.

This isn't a hypothetical discussion. You're talking about what can happen as opposed to what has happened. That's like punishing two kids equally because one punched someone else and the other had the ability to punch someone else.

Replace the word immorality with morality and you'd be correct. Have you ever read the Old Testament?

That's one, but definitely not all of them.

That brings me back to the point that you're just contradicting the shit out of yourself when you say that, especially due to the fact that you're a Christian. Tolerance you say? What a joke.

2 Kings 10:18-27
Genesis 17:14
Genesis 19:24
Exodus 4:24-26
Exodus 11:7
Exodus 12:29
...
This list can go on forever.

I don't believe in intolerance, regardless of text. You, however, do seem to have problems with any sort of religion.

Spoiler:
I don't know many people that take the verses you listed as ways to conduct themselves, either. In a modern context, it's not realistic even.

Sigh... this discussion is going nowhere and you're obviously in denial. This is how every "debate" with you ends. This will be my last post towards you.

You're the one preaching intolerance right now, though. You're denying that other religious beliefs could possibly have any merit, to the extent of being disrespectful. The Bible and Quran might have verses shunning/condemning non-believers (right next to the verses on stoning queers), but few people are so abrasive. At least 1/3 of the planet practices Christianity and at least 3/4 have some form of faith[1]. I've found that it isn't religion that's caused wars, it's intolerance of other (supposedly inferior) faiths. Your feelings towards religion might be based on intolerance you've observed, but that doesn't mean you're not overgeneralizing.

If you want to stop wars, you should start by being tolerant. You're not going to convince 1/3 to 3/4 of the planet with the attitude you have, much less me. Learning to live among others, regardless of conflicting views, is valuable.

If religion helps someone with a drug addiction or something, then that's great and I'll not say anything to them about their belief as long as they aren't spouting nonsense about how gays are going to hell or whatever.

Think more like this guy.

I don't really care for religion but I can't stand people that talk about atheism 24/7. I'll believe there is a god when someone shows me lots and lots of evidence. For most people I guess it's just easier to believe in a god and an eternal paradise instead of facing that once you die, you're dead and that's it. Oh and there's god as an answer for anything that can't be explained. Remember learning about how ancient civilizations worshiped gods like the rain god so it would rain and help out crops and everyone just kinda sat there thinking of how dumb they were. I imagine people in the future will have the same thoughts about modern day religion.
