There's plenty the end user can do. The media is downloaded to view it in the first place, never mind the replay.

So for example, if I were to send a nude to someone who just casually uses snapchat and doesn't have some sort of snap saver, they could then do the research on screencapping a snapchat without getting detected, and then paying the fee and get another chance to download it for money? If they really are that depserate for money, they really should have sold for $3b when they had the chance. I can almost feel the regret the owners are experiencing right now.
