The chances of you being found steadily rise the more illegal it gets, especially without some sort backup. From what I understand this guy just completely relied on TOR.

So, in a nutshell, mister DPR is a retard.
Tor was not the issue. DPR's opsec was. Also the FBI did not "fiddle with Tor". Rather, they "fiddled with" Freedom Hosting, a single Tor-based hosting company.

I really don't know why people keep thinking I'm stating TOR was the issue.

I'm saying that this person had large enough resources to do a much better job at covering his tracks than simply rely on only TOR, one trick ponies don't make it far.

Please, note the word "Only" meaning that it can INCLUDE TOR, just bunched up with more preventive measures.

And sorry for my poor choice of words, but I'm surprised the message didn't get across anyways. I mean let's be honest, you can split open any browser you like, it won't give you immediate knowledge over everyone who uses it.

The thing is, you don't need any other things besides enough intelligence to know not to leave tracks. If you're implying you need something extra besides that (e.g. a VPN) which I think you've been saying that would be absolutely useless. Tor might be a 'one trick pony' but it's damn good at its one trick.

Yes, that's what I've been trying to say.
Well, far be it from me to defy what you know (No, that wasn't sarcasm).

I just pretty much assumed that with such a ludicrous income, this guy may be able to attach some extra security measures.

Debatable.

Well I would assume that I'd be able to maintain one longer than you, considering that you're fucking horrible at (what I'm assuming is) your native language.

Low-brow counter much?

We're not even discussing not getting caught, we're discussing putting no additional protection plans which was completely possible with the fortune he amassed.
