[Shower thought] What do Muslims think about drugs? #1
Americans and probably other countries live in a society where recreational drug usage is pretty accepted.

So I was just thinking, what do people in the Middle-East (specifically, Muslims) think about marijuana, LSD, etc?

interesting question, I would think it's quite similiar to the US. Culturally they don't seem to be as strict as some Asian countries with recreational drug use. Maybe it is different religiously, though there are going to be radical groups in every country on each side of the issue.

I have a few Muslim friends, and they're totally opposed to all forms of Illicit drugs.

They find It uncomfortable talking about It, let alone taking any. Now my friends are the very religious type who pray so many times a day, and abide by the law to a great degree.

Drugs are considered Haram (Prohibited), infact anything that causes intoxication is prohibited in Islam..

The Prophet (PBUH) said that "If a large amount of anything causes intoxication, a small amount of it is prohibited."

P.S I am a Muslim

I have had the same problem discussing it...that's why I was just curious.

The one thing I can't handle, Is how a few of my work colleagues despise Muslims for their beliefs and practice.

I Instantly put them back In the hole where they came from. I'm not a Muslim, but I respect my Muslim friends to the fullest degree. They're courteous, polite and go out of their way to lend a helping hand when needed.

Those that are more conservative/traditional with religion (not just Islam) tend to be against drugs. Depends on the Muslim.

Spoiler:
I have a friend that won't eat pork (i.e. bacon), but I know they've done drugs. It's difficult to generalize.

There are Muslims who smoke pot, cigarettes and take all kinds of drugs, I won't deny that fact. The simple answer is unable to control their LUST and unable to follow the teachings of Islam. Now you may also find Muslims who pray 5 times a day and still smoke cigarettes, if you ask them why do you smoke? They might just say "I like it", unable to control their lust. Controlling your nafs (Soul) from these things is a big battle.

It's said that man has 2 enemies, One is Shaytan (Devil) and one is his own Nafs(Soul), control your soul and you'll lead yourself to heavens
