New Group: Agent
Agent is a group started by Starfall and is 100% invite only. While not much is know about the group, Starfall released a public statement in the Group Discussion section.
(02-20-2014, 09:30 AM)Starfall Wrote: Agents is a new invite only group impersonating law enforcement officials for the purpose of trolling the living hell out of inferior rice children.Due to the nature of the members, this seems to be an attempt to get some members with knowledge of advanced exploitation on the board.

Spoiler:
Adorapuff: Hello Starfall, and welcome to Sinister.ly's first news interview! Would you like to make any shout outs?
Starfall: hm... no, not really
Adorapuff: I'll just dive into it then, everyone is dying to know if you have any plans you can make public for your new group Agents.
Starfall: All the information that's not already been posted is classified, though I guess I can elucidate a bit. The idea of the group is to simply cause chaos in the scene. It's not "for the lulz", it's not "because we can", it's to cleanse the scum of the earth. If you are a script kiddie, you will be annihilated and then go to prison. Simple, right?
Adorapuff: Thanks for the insight into your group. Next question, Do you think SL will ever become like HackForums or LeakForums?
Starfall: I think it already is like them in some aspects, and that's the reason I chose to have this group enacted now rather than later. It may scare people into being something more than 14-year-olds who call in bomb threats to the FBI.
Adorapuff: Wow, you really want to get rid of all the skids! Last question, what's your favorite anime?
Starfall: Uh... wow... tough one... I'd have to say it's Noir or TTGL. Yeah, I know, very big difference between the two.
Adorapuff: Thank you for participating in the 1st SL News interview. Have a good weekend!

Question: Do you think SL is currently on the right track for success, and do you think the recent increase in activity is temporary or will last?
Anonymous User- Without constant input from members, especially Oni, activity would die out. Success isn't measured by activity alone in my opinion. I reckon that as long as the members feel at home and are interested in the community long term, then yes it's on the right track. These things are never completely stable though, so realistically... I have no fucking idea but I hope so...D
Satan - Currently, yeah, its getting along better than its competitors, and whether the increase in activity is temporary or permanent, all depends on how much content gets posted imo. The more people contribute, the more likely people are to come and stay.

"Smart" Pistols being sold in California
The Smart System iP1, a .22-caliber pistol is the first "smart" pistol to hit the shelves in California. It is sold in par with an RFID equipped wrist-watch. When a pin is entered on the watch, and the handle is gripped by the owner, only then will the gun become usable. This is to prevent intruders from using the gun. The total cost is $1,800 which as Oni knows, is more expensive than most guns.

Feds' Shift to Mobile Creates Security Cracks
Quote:"While it is the agency's responsibility to provide mobile device management and training, it is the responsibility of the end-user to follow these policies. Simple steps such as creating a complex password -- and changing it often -- or using a secure wireless connection are effective techniques for end-users to begin practicing," said Cindy Auten, general manager of the Mobile Work Exchange.Currently, over 90% of government workers use a mobile device such as a smartphone, laptop, and/or tablet for work. A recent survey suggests over 30% log on with their work devices on public WiFi's such as Starbucks, which are vulnerable to MITM attacks. Over half do not use any encryption on their laptops, and over 25% do not use passwords on their smartphones. In addition, 10% openly stated that they opened emails from unknown senders. With that, it is obvious that these Feds are stupid (excuse my poor journalism), and their "classified" information is vulnerable to everything under the sun. There are very few precautions being taken, and those are limited to remote wipe functionality, and occasional scans by the IT Department.
