Rust. Review

(tl;dr: Rust. is a great game made by our lord and savior Garry. Play it.)

[intro]Rust. is a Zombie Survival MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) game inspired by major titles like Minecraft, STALKER and DayZ. Rust is made by Garry Newman's company, Facepunch Studios and is the only major title Facepunch has released since Garry's Mod. When Facepunch started developing Rust. they wanted a game where the player would be free to play the way the player wants to and not have to worry about a hero/bandit system and instead will have to trust his instinct rather than some silly and unrealistic humanity number.

Rust. is made on the Unity engine, which is an engine most gamers have gotten familiar with at this point, as it is one of the best and most used engines on the market at the moment. As of writing this review the game is not yet officially on steam, but you can however buy it off ther website and then you will recieve a key that you can activate on steam and then you can start playing. If you buy it remember that Rust. is still in Alpha and EVERYTHING will change upon final release.

[what-i-think]Rust. has been one of the strangest games I have ever had the chance to play. From nude players running around with axes chopping down doors and brutally slaughtering entire villages to defending the base you and your friends used days on making sure is safe, there is not limitations for the developers imaginatgion.

Right now it might sound like the game is a purely PVP motivated game where everyone are assholes with MP4's running around killing naked people, but let me assure there is a lot more to this game. You can fight the wildlife in an epic animal versus hatchet battle, go hunting for deer with your trusty rifle, raid zombie infested cities for supplies and mutch more.

I would highly recommend that you buy it.

[my-overall-rating]This game is great, however there are a lot of bugs (which is expected in a alpha) and things that still needs fixing. So my rating for this game is:

PLAYABILITY : 7/10 toddlers
GRAPHICS : 7/10 toddlers
PERFORMANCE : 6/10 toddlers

RATING : 7.6/10 toddlers (good for an alpha)

What do you mean 'beta key' and 'never put out'? The game is still in alpha. And Facepunch hasn't banned a single person yet that hasn't broken a rule, and that was in pre-alpha. Now they don't even ban people anymore because bans are now server sided and up to the server owner.

Some sort of key, now they are up for auction. I signed up for a key but I was one of the unlucky ones that didn't get one.

This game looks just like 7 days to die. Both the games look pretty fun though.

There are a ton of Minecraft-inspired Zombie games coming out now.
Obviously Rust, 7 Days to Die was already mentioned, then there's Dead Linger, Fortnight, and a third game that I really can't remember for the life of me.
Last one is technically not zombies, I think it was mutants, but the idea is the same.

Actually, that last one looked really good, it was kinda a blend of Crysis 2 and Metro 2033, polished with Minecraft elements.

Rust looks really interesting, if strange. Still, all of these games definitely need polishing. But, that's the folly of indie. The devs can bring their dreams to life, but it often takes years upon years upon years to fully come to fruition.

Then you obviously havent played 7dtd. Also, I believe rust was in dev before 7dtd was even announced.
Anyways. The two different games belong to two entierly different genres and should not be compared to eachother.

How is that they're different genres, again?

Because it seems to me that they're actually both part of a pretty fucking specific, if as-yet unnamed, genre.

It's an MMO with some zombies. 7dtd is a zombie infested faggot-game. Also rust took most of it's insiration from STALKER rather than minecancer.
