I'm still a senior but I'm about to go into university for computer science. I'll likely get a certification from Offensive Security, Cisco, VMWare, and Microsoft.

School was kinda rough for me, lot of stress, but I was able to make it through. My work ethic went to shit but in this year I've brought it back up for college. I got through it though, best of luck with you, I assume you're about to go into 9-12 right?

YesI'm months away to graduate and go to grade 9, but my marks are shit... The reason is that I cant put 1 info in my tiny brain.. Do you have any tips for me?
Thanks for your support anyways Wink

Well, what happens until high school doesn't matter too much. Next year though you have to really work at it, whether it takes forcing yourself to do the work, or working with a tutor, you need to get it done. I'm lucky in that my school does tutoring directly, and that I'm in such a low-income bracket that I don't have to worry about the cost of college, but I'm restricted to where I can go.

All things considered, really try to study, get a tutor if you need one, do your work (my biggest problem, I had no work ethic,) drink copious energy drinks if you have to, and slap yourself into working if you can't already.

Did you start at like a smaller college or something? Or are you going for a graduate degree?

The college and university have a collaborative program. I thought it'd be nice to get both a diploma and undergraduate degree in 4 years. Not much of an edge but it was cheaper

You're not trying, you think you're dumb? no. Thats what many kids think because they do not have the motivation (from what ive been told by Teachers)
Go to after school classes, talk with your teacher, ask for help, go over it over and over again even if it takes 5 months and 60 minutes.

Grade 8 was a weird year.
I wasn't great at all of my classes, and my math teacher was known for his inappropriately stiff nipples.
I also lost my best friend that year because he decided he was too good for us when he started hanging out with the popular group.

Holy crap this thread makes me feel incredibly old. Many of you weren't even a twinkle in your dad's eye when I was first learning how to control an entire computer by command line and writing games in BASIC.
Not bragging, just makes me feel insanely ancient. I discovered my want for hacking and mayhem when a program I wrote caused a halt and catch fire type situation on my 386, and a lot of you are still in school.
I'm just in amazement I've lived this long.

I assume you'd remember the good old Commodore 64, and subsequently the 16-bit Windows 3.1?

Mambru, I still have my Commodore sitting in my office closet, and a box with a stack of 3.1" diskettes to install Windows 3.1, all of them in order just in case I ever do have to use an A:/ drive to reinstall the basest of necessities.
I also remember when Windows still used a LOT of DOS prompts and enough heavy scripting could allow you to catalogue all your video games into a programmable list. It was always easier to just close W3.1 and boot back into DOS if you really wanted shit to get done.
It was just easier at the time.
Made switching to the Linux terminal a breeze later in life.
Then, remember when Linux was out for Commodore and Amiga with their 12-bit file allocations instead of 16 or 32? The guides are still residing, and well hidden, inside manpag.

Depending on It's condition, some Commodore 64's have sold for a decent amount of cash. I should've kept mine.

In terms of DOS prompts, I absolutely agree- I used quite a lot back then, but have forgotten the majority. I still have Windows 3.1, converted to a bootable ISO, with a capacity of only "8.5 MB".
