Recreating Discussion Zone Logo 06-01-2013, 07:06 PM

Sup guys!
Today I'll be teaching ya'll how to recreate the DZ logo but with an altered font, hence I cannot find the actual font that the official logo is using.
This is what we are going to be making:
So let's get started shall we?
First of all we will need to download the font - a similar looking font for the logo.
Go here to download and install the similar looking font:
http://www.dafont.com/motion-picture.font?text=Phaggot
Once you've download and installed the font, open up Photoshop.
Once Photoshop shop is open, make a new layer and name it anything and make sure the Width is: 724 and Height is: 167.
Change color to a dark grey color and apply to the layer.
Now, press "T" and and place the text holder to the far left side.
Now type: "DiscussionZone".
Once you've typed in "DiscussionZone", highlight all of the "DiscussionZone" text and go on the top left and click on the font changing thingy and change that to Motion Pictures...
Once you've done that, make sure the text's size is "115.98" around about there.
Now, with that done, highlight all of the text and change the color to or the color code to: "659300"
Hit OK.
Now, right click on the layer and choose "Blending options".
Once you click on "Blending options", you should see something like this:
Once you are there, tick "Stroke" and the size of the stroke will be "2".
After you've done that tick "Inner Glow" and apply the following settings:
Blend Mode: Screen
Opacity: 40%
Noise: 0%
Color code for "Inner Glow": c5ff48
Technique: Softer
Source: Edge
Choke: 0%
Size: 1
Range: 20%
Jitter: 0%
Now hit OK.
After that, tick "Color Overlay", and apply the following settings:
Blend Mode: Normal
Color code: ffffff
Opacity: 9%
Hit OK.
After that, tick "Gradient Overlay". Once you've ticked "Gradient Overlay", apply the following settings:
Blend Mode: Soft Light
Opacity: 61%
Gradient: Unchanged
Style: Linear
"Align with Layer" ticked.
Angel: 90°
Scale: 100%
Hit OK.
Then tick "Drop Shadow" and apply the following:
Blend Mode: Multiply
Color code: 000000
Angel: 100°
"Use Global Light" ticked.
Distance: 3
Spread: 23%
Size: 18
Right click on the "THROUGH DISCUSSIONS IN EVERY TOPIC" text layer, and click on "Blending Options".
Once you've done that, tick "Stroke" and add the following:
Size: 1
Position: Outside
Blend Mode: Normal
Opacity: 49%
Color code: 000000
After that, tick "Drop Shadow" and add the following settings:
Blend Mode: Multiply
Color code: 000000
Opacity: 71%
Angel: 100°
"User Global Light" ticked.
Distance: 2
Spread: 15%
Size: 9
The hit OK.
OK, by now, we should have something like this.
If you don't then kill your self.
Now, let's move on to the next bit.
On the top left side, click on "Layer" > "New Fill Layer" > "Gradient...".
After you've done that a box should pop up and it should look something like this:
Hit the OK button and this should pop up:
Double click on "Gradient" and you should see this:
On that window, double click on the bottom, left, color stop.
Once you double clicked on that, another window should pop up named "Color Picker (Stop Color):
Change the color code for that to: ffffff
Once you have done that, hit OK for the 2 windows, "Color Picker (Stop Color)" and "Gradient Editor", but don't hit OK for the "Gradient Fill" window just yet.
Ok, now the two windows, "Color Picker (Stop Color)" and "Gradient Editor" should be not visible cause you pressed OK on both, but the "Gradient Fill" should be visible cause you did not press OK on it yet.
Now on the "Gradient Fill" window you should see that the style is set to: "Linear", change that to "Radial".
Once you done that, change the "Scale" to 130%.
Then hit OK.
After that, in the Layers section, you should see: "Gradient Fill 1".
Click on that layer and keep it selected and then on the upper area
change the "Opacity" to 59% and the "Fill" to 55%.
By now, we should have something like this:
OK, now here comes the last bit.
Make a new layer and place it on the top of all the current layers.
Right click on that layer and click on "Creat Clipping Mask".
Now remember the dark grey layer we added earlier? Hide it (click on the eye).
OK, now click on the "Elliptical Marquee Tool" by doing this:
Once you have the "Elliptical Marquee Tool" selected, click and drag and make half a circle over the main layers, and it should look like this.
After you've done that, select the "Gradient Bucket Tool".
Change the color for it to light green: 9cbd00
And then click inside the semi circle we just did (clipping mask).
After you've done that, hold CTRL+D to Di-select the semi circle.
Well, I think we are done now.
I hope you guys enjoyed the tutorial. Have a nice day.
