Looks like JayzTwoCents called it. Bending of the power cords on the 4090s can cause melting. While anecdotal, the cards are a bit more unwieldy and it's worth being wary.

Redditor, u/reggie_gakil, posted on the NVIDIA subreddit a picture of the NVIDIA 16-pin connector all burned up. The connector was powering his brand-new GeForce RTX 4090 (custom model). The pictures show that both the power adapter which includes a 16-pin to 4 x 8-pin plug and the power connector on the PCB ended up in flames and melted. The graphics card was the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming OC.

A perfect opportunity for social engineers to put the disposed of the faulty Item method Into action.

Yeah, Moore's law comes back from the grave when your card consumes too much power, is too big, and makes too much heat.

Logic has It they're not going to leave the Issue unattended.

It's safe to say a fix Is on the horizon.
