[Question] Paypal purchases

So, I'm making a website for a friend's game, and the website will have a distinction between free and premium users. I have a PayPal buy now button for them to purchase a premium account, but how do Ilet my website know they purchased a premium account?

Right now I don't see any way to tell, besides me manually going in and saying ok he purchased it with this Transaction ID. Once they pay, I want to set a variable to true in my database. But how can I do that?

For this, you'll need to do a bit of PHP or get someone to do it for you.

Paypal has an API. This gives paypal the ability to request a specific page of your choosing whenever they make a purchase. You can use this reaction to lookup the transaction in paypal and apply premium.

Nohbdy is 100% correct. If you havn't noticed, there is a Merchant tools menu, and it includes API key. If you need any help, you can ask me. Also, what game? This sounds cool.

I myself am a game developer and have done things like this before!

And I'll look at the PayPal API. Heard of it but never went into it.
