Queen Elizabeth Dies at 96 #1
After 70 years on the throne, Queen Elizabeth has died. Prince Charles will succeed her as king.

Quote:Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, has died in Scotland. Prince Charles is now king.

It is a moment that the United Kingdom has been bracing for, with an elaborate plan for “Operation London Bridge” mapping out what happens next. But it comes as a shock all the same.

Elizabeth, 96, was a symbol of stability and continuity — even through royal scandals, the contraction of the British Empire and massive changes around the world. Only days ago, she oversaw the appointment of her 15th prime minister.

The formal succession will unfold over the next 10 days, with Charles giving the world a first glimpse of what he will be like as monarch. On Thursday, the king said in a statement that his mother’s death “is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family.”

So who takes over the pedo ring that she was connected to? The royal family is dirty and someone has to run her end of the trade.

Hopefully no one and they can disband the monarchy and focus on the living crisis more than half the country are living/about to go through. Should've been done a long time ago to be honest, maybe the £340 million being spent on the family ever year can be put back into the country instead but I doubt that very much! She will get a "royal train" from Scotland to London ffs!!

Just a little information sharing: The money spent on the royal family is done so with the knowledge that the living royal family actually generate more money for the economy than they cost. If your goal is to increase spending money for the government, getting rid of the royals is counterproductive.

To everyone commenting on this thread: I'm a little surprised at how toxic the comments have been. You don't have to believe in monarchy or like every person in that family, but I do think some human decency isn't too much to ask for when someone dies.

I'm not a royalist, but I respect the Queen for spending her life serving the country, for her work towards international relations (especially the commonwealth) and for putting her role before herself. Yes, they are wealthy, yes there are some bad eggs in that family (as there are in any normal family), but the Queen has been a force for good for most. I believe that William & Kate will do a lot more good when their time comes.

Fair enough, maybe my wording was a little harsh and done without detailed research however I don't believe any money from the taxpayers should be spent on them, especially with such a divide in who supports them and who doesn't. I suppose we will never fully understand or know the financial background to what they spend/bring in.
