What Ive seen in my country tho, is usually when really small extremist parties challenge an actual reichstag (translation for riksdag) politician, and they are like "if you dont face me in this debate, you will lose". And its usually a "move under the sleeves" meaning, when you are small, you need to make big moves to be seen.
