I am using Windows 7.

Which version of Java are you using. Use JDK 1.7 and you will get no errors.

Other than that I fixed the issue that choosing similar items won't move them back to the inventory and I added some new items.

@"noize":
I made a very small download for you (240KB). I hope you still have the old folder. There just replace the gladiator.jar and the sprites folder from the download here:
http://uppit.com/sqhahw1tdkhp/GladiatorSmall.zip

When it gets stable, arrived to the inventory screen, it's using around the 10% of the CPU, and circa 400,000 KBs of RAM, which is actually fine, I mean, it is surely expensive, but definitely bearable. 121 FPS for the most.

It froze for some time before getting to the fight. The enemy looks like dead, he's not moving at all and my moves look more awkward than before (not the frontside one (when it faces me), but the other stepping, when it then stops, it looks like on one feet(?)). I can get behind the adversary (talking about background depth, I mean behind his back, i.e. closer to the background than he is) but not go over (just behind is back, not any longer ahead), and I can't kill him (he's already dead(-like), after all, I don't think zombies could die). Let me restart the game and try once more.

Second try: took less to get to the fight, but same results.

Third try: just like the other two times, it froze before getting to fight, some more than it took in the second try. All moves look more awkward than before. It's not taking the sword back after launching the attack, on loading the enemy looks like... well, I'd say this is not the solution to the freezing problem (still freezing - anyhow, just less than before).

Does it show any of these symptoms on *nix?

There aren't any of these symptoms on my machine.
But I got a friend of mine to test it on Windows 8. It showed the same symptoms as you described here and I changed it again. Now it should work. It isn't as smooth as on Windows, but the framerate is steady and the weird symptoms are gone.

New download: http://uppit.com/elem168tqcly/Gladiator.zip
Small download (exchange the gladiator.jar in the folder): http://uppit.com/j0wxtp6nyzvp/gladiator.jar

@"invisal": You need at least Java 7.
If you still have problems, download the newest version and run start.bat or start.sh on y the command line. Copy the error it shows from the terminal and I can help you further with it.
You remind me that I should turn on logging for such cases.

Edit: Turned on logging now. Send me the contents of the log file in the folder logs if you have problems.

It works now. It's nice. Maybe you can make a custom scripting language for AI.
It would be nice for community to write AI to compete with each other. Lets say

Psycho_Coder's AI vs ArkPhaze's AI
Psycho_Coder's AI vs Deque's AI

We can have a table of score like football league.

Awesome. It's still struggling on fight (re)start, but it's pretty smooth when playing, which is fundamental.

A bot specific scripting language would be an awesome idea indeed.

Can you please update the link ?

Suggestion : If you switch to other file sharing sites then your files won't get deleted or will be missing.

Another thing I needed to know.

Will you tell me how do you make those run.bat or run.sh executables. I wanna I just checked almost all of your works on HC and went through the download links to get the code of run.sh or run.bat but many links are dead.

I did, thanks for notification.

About the .bat .sh files: I just write the java command into them that is necessary to run the file. I had to include native libraries to Djava.library.path that are necessary to run with Slick2D.
So it is really not more than a short java -jar command to run the jar with the right settings.

Now that the link is up again, you can have a look into them.
