Preferred way to travel 06-24-2017, 07:52 PM

I'm in Ottawa this weekend for a family gathering, and we decided to take the train here instead of our usual drive. Even with some delays, the whole ride was 4 1/2 hours instead of the 5+ hour drive with little to no traffic. Granted, taking a flight instead (which I'm doing on the way home) is maybe 90 minutes, but there's always the hassle of security, luggage, international customs (if you're outside the EU, I guess), and all the rest.
Even given that the train is more expensive per person than driving and not nearly as fast as flying, I think I prefer it because of the scenic trip, ease of access, smooth ride, and minimal effort to actually get to the platform. At least for large countries like Canada, China, Russia, and India (and I would image the EU), the train is definitely the way to go for me.
What do you guys prefer when travelling?
It's often the outcasts, the iconoclasts ... those who have the least to lose because they
don't have much in the first place, who feel the new currents and ride them the farthest.

Normally I drive everywhere, but I have taken a plane once, never had a chance to ride a train. Trains look like they would be much more comfortable than a bus or driving and flying can be a little bit of a hassle even without having to deal with customs. My longest trip was from New York (near the Canadian boarder) to lower Florida, was a 24 hour drive, I did it in 18, would have loved to been able to sleep or relax during such a trip.

When going to Ottawa, I personally enjoy the long drives.

It's 2017. I figured by now one would be able to teleport. Elon Musk really needs to step up his game...

I mean driving is a really scenic method of travel too, despite the time. The few times I have taken the train during a long transit, it was pretty enjoyable.

It depends where I'm going.
As opposed to driving, whereby concentration and focus Is required for the entire distance, for long-distance travel I prefer public transport (train or bus). I get to relax, perhaps have a nap along the way and reach my destination nice and refreshed.
