Post requirement before you can rep #1
There should be a post count requirement before you can rep others. Some user gave me negative who had one post. He made a thread and left. He most likely will never visit the site again since his problem was resolved. I cant think of any reasons why this would have any negative effects. You should have at least 25 posts before you are allowed to rep others.

I feel like that's fair. Although, I know many members don't take rep too seriously. Will see what Oni thinks.

Oni seems keen so far. Now to wait and see.

I'd have to make a plugin for this, although it's pretty simple.

That is an excellent idea, as people can keep creating accounts in order to give rep to themselves. Actually, I think that only upgraded users should be able to give reputation.

Multi-accounting is banned anyway. Also, does anyone really care about rep that much that they'd go through the effort to do that?

We don't need a perfect system, just a deterrent from the annoying one-time-posters.

Interesting idea about upgraded members, but what about the members that have been here forever, but just so happen to have no upgraded yet. Some of that feedback can be handy and I don't think regular members should be excluded from that.

My point is that if they make enough quality posts to get 150.00 NSP and get bronze, they are real members and won't just come here to negative rep people and leave.

Should still be functional especially if you are still on the 1.6 series. I will test it out on localhost and post back my results.

Exactly this.

Perhaps the "one-time poster" can be significantly deterred, If a minimum post count was Increased (where applicable) and Implemented further In selected forums. I'm not saying to shut new members out of their comfort posting zone, but more so (as with NSP), they should "earn" their rights to post, rather than post their rights to earn.

do you even mybb admin?

1. Groups -> Registered -> Permissions -> Disable Rep
2. Create new group for Regular users.
3. Group Promotions -> Add new -> Promotion by post count > XX to new group created above (with rep permissions).

Would take all of 2 minutes and easy to do with whats built into mybb.
