Paypal 05-21-2019, 09:34 PM

Gonna cut right to the chase , i Have a paypal account with my name and address on it. I'm under 18. I've also got a negative balance of -£22 , along with one other open case. I'm guessing if I just leave it paypal won't do anything about a balance that small. But if the case goes in buyers favour (which it normally does with paypal) the balance will be about -£80. Don't want anyone coming round my house , being in debt before I'm even 18 is also certainly not ideal.
If I just get onto live chat and tell them I'm underage will they close my account , or should I just leave it?

Paypal will be the pricks that they are and probably perma limit your account once you tell them you're underage. They'll then send debt collectors after you (yes, for that amount). Simply call the debt collector agency and tell them your age and they will refrain from contacting you. Also just throw the letter away. I got 1 or 2 when I was underage and 1 or 2 after 18, they never showed up on my credit report or anything. It's just bs.

It works basically the same as any other debt that an individual refuses to pay. They'll sell it to a collections agency, and then the collections will attempt to get the money from you. A lot of companies have contracts with businesses to take on their unpaid clients, so even if the amount is .50, it still goes to them. I'm not sure how paypal works, but I doubt they do nothing. Whether the collections agency tries to contact you is up in the air. They may send you a letter in the mail, they may call, or they may do nothing.
They will usually give you time to pay up your balance before going to collections though. For that small of an amount, just pay it. Too many businesses use paypal and you used your actual information. If you want to dispute the chargebacks give them a call and do so. Depending on what the issue was, you might be able to blame the carrier. If you're outright scamming, let it be a lesson learned. It's on you if you don't want to pay them back, but given your age and the amount, I think it's a stupid decision.
I wouldn't mention you are underage, that won't get you anywhere and you'll still owe them. It's not like you're 7-14 years old, the only ages where you can actually play stupid like that.

Just pay the debt, I owed them $5 and they literally sent debt collectors after me.
Just pay them before they send anyone after you.

Update , to repay the balance I need to add a card . To add a card I need to be > 18. See my problem.. thinking of just acting dumb like:
"I can't add a driver's license because I'm under 18". I personally couldn't give a shit about PayPal but my mum uses it off of the same IP (different device). Don't want her account getting blocked (for obvious reasons).
