What does everyone think of the index layout of my theme? (so far) :

It's bad. Sorry, it just sucks to be honest. No real images or anything, just a lot of shotty CSS work if you ask me.

I personally do not like it, the colors don't go together and some of the positioning looks off.

One thing I learned about dark and light colors is, they never go together unless with style.

Not trying to be a bad person.. or rude.. but it's kind of bad. But hey.. you learn from mistakes.. right?

Try not to make as many boxes. And if you do, try to add some gradients, or fading colors.

Try to make the colors match a little more. Kind of like SLs, Red and black go really well together.

But always remember, there's always room for improvements. No one is the best at anything.

Constructive critisim is good for you. I would always prefer get the harsh truth then some ahole being nice and lying, which will get me no where.
Anyway, its alright. I don't like the colors. See the tips above. Also like some one already said, too many boxes. One box for the forum sections should be enough.
