Opinions on Transsexuals? #1
What's everybody's opinion on Transsexuals? I have a date with a MtF transsexual on Saturday. Sweetest girl you ever met.

I don't have a particular opinion on them as whole group. I do dislike some of the things that are happening in the media around them and don't always agree with LGBTQ campaigns, but I definitely try to support any friends I have/will meet if they are still going through their transition. One of my closest friends in school was M2F and she's a much happier and healthier person. I suppose they're just another set of people who have some struggles in society.

I'm personally fine with them, I likely wouldn't date one, but I'm not against them in general, it's just my preferences. I'm more annoyed by the entire political world taking sides.
I did notice that you used "transsexuals" instead of "transgenders", which would make things a bit confusing. "The debate", which is just idiots screaming at each other, is really just an argument over definition (ANSI needs to make a dictionary). Generally, I see people saying that gender is a mental thing whereas sex is a genetic one. By this definition, transsexuals can't exist. However, others say that they mean the same thing, and some more say that you are transsexual if you go through surgical procedures. I personally prefer the first pair of definitions that I brought up, but my opinion doesn't matter since there are a million other people with their opinions. At this point, the most sensible thing to do is just to wait for one of the definition pairs to be generally accepted.

You made some really good points. And I agree with your comment on the politics. I noticed the terminology too but try not to question it since you're right, those terms are debated. I am aware that when they educate students about this stuff, they tend to use Transgender, not Tran-sexual, though that could differ by school and region in the states since there is little standardisation on something like this. I'm happy to wait and see what becomes the norm for terms.

Awesome mate. As I've said in the past, probably wouldn't go out of my way to be in your shoes right now but if it ended up that way I wouldn't have a HUGE problem (didn't say I wouldn't have a problem.)

You like it, cool, have fun, enjoy yourself my dude.

Yeah the surgery is a viable way of having a true "transsexual." The only problem with this is you still have genetic data that makes you male or female and no amount of hormones is going to change that. (I bite my tongue with this because we do have stuff like CRISPR.)

AFAIK CRISPR won't help with this, there's a huge amount of gene editing needed and you very well might die if you tried

CRISPR probably won't inherently. Its more so the concept that such a gene sequencer like CRISPR is possible that it could very well become possible in the near future.

Near future might be an exaggeration, but sure.
People seem to be a bit too excited about stuff like AI and CRISPR when it's often farther off than they think. (specifically, with AI, we're going nowhere right now)

Pretty neutral. Wouldn't ever date one, since you can't change chromosomes. Have absolutely no issues w/ people doing as they please, though. That being said, I have a strong dislike for the implications in terms of politics and media.

Still, it's fascinating to think of and fantasize about a world where these things are possible. By then, I'm sure new social norms will have taken hold and we may be dealing with very different social issues.
