I remember those days very well.

I too, did something similar solely with DVDs back around 14 years ago. The good old DVD Shrink did the trick. I bought my external optical drive burner for 500$. Nowadays, It'd be lucky to fetch 50 cents.

People still use optical media? Failure to see the future's happenings, I suppose. I just grabbed a 3-pack of 16gb thumbs today for $20.
...
Course my gear box does have two gigantic stacks of DVD-RWs in it. I guess I did make backups of various Linux distros and my No Telemetry W10 Install. I have to use my girl's computer to make the discs.
I was never trying to be cool or anything, but today I realized I don't use Windows for anything anymore and don't even have the ability to burn a CD or DVD...
I just HAD to be different!

I have a colleague who experienced card fraud just recently. Of course, she will get all funds back. But, her main issue is that it's 2 weeks until payday and she has to wait to get those funds back.

I assume her financial Institution will reimburse her loss, and then proceed with the Investigation to reclaim the funds on their end?

In my locality, all major banks operate In this fashion. But as you've mentioned, It's the waiting period (and the running around) to receive the funds Into the account that can have an Impact on personal commitments.

That's right. She will get funds back... Just after several weeks.

They don't just sit there and think "oh the insurance will cover it". Also, remember, you may be one person stealing that one thing from amazon, but that doesn't mean there aren't another 20,000 people trying to do the same thing. It adds up.

Would you go into a local store and take items? Assuming it won't hurt anyone?

Carding and SEing are on a similar level to me.

Interesting. I guess it all depends on the company. My bank had the funds returned immediately and then begun the investigation. Perhaps for that very reason, but a more appropriate approach I think. Hope all goes well for her

Individuals work at the companies you're hurting. When the company loses out on its bottom line, guess whose wages get cut? You're hurting someone else, for personal gain.

Huh, I have never really realized that mabey I'm too short sighted to think about what I'm doing. I think I agree with you and that anyone is capable of doing bad things due of how desperate they can be.

Just out of curiosity is there any particular reason that SE'ing is permitted on this fourm(and many others) and carding is not.

Discussing carding is illegal. Discussing social engineering isn't.
