Like whom? For examples:
Richard Nixon - Watergate, abuse of power, the list is unending. He was a thief and a liar. He covered up a burglary which was connected later, by the FBI, to his own campaign for re-election. Facing impeachment by the House he resigned. Before his resignation, he was actively trying to cover up the nature of the crimes, which were heard on tape recordings. Best part is, he was officially pardoned by his successor, Gerald R. Ford one month after his resignation.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt - political corruption, frequent over-spending and abuse of public-works projects/funds, Agricultural Adjustment Act. He caused the destruction of farm crops to boost farm prices, purposefully. Among other horrors.
The United States has a vast amount of crimes unanswered that are slowly coming to light, especially when dealing directly with presidential campaigns and terms. The president may just be a face for corporations but that doesn't mean they should get away with anything simply because they didn't "pull the strings".
So I ask again, what is so inexcusably admirable about our former leaders? They're all capable of discerning right from wrong but so far they've all shown their ability to cross the line, but never once to admit that the line exists.
