I am not involved at all whatsoever with this "history of RATing and/or hacking systems in other ways".
I just wanted to share this story.

Uh, if this was the only problem with the NSA, that'd be great...

Well, he made a generalization, and it's considered poor rhetoric to do so.

Considering that they also had access to snapchats, that could be a considerable amount of nudes of a considerable amount of people. Fine, I hope they enjoyed it.

As for the reading your ex-girlfriends communications, sure. This is what happens when you give people power, and the possibility to missuse that power.

It's a bit sad to see that our own country can't even follow the examples of our older leaders.

I think people still have a right to complain on this site. There are many of us who do nothing of the sort. Also, that was a good point about taxpayers money as well. Most businesses have forms of corruption though, I guess.

However, in regards to the nudes, I think people should be educated enough to know that they are doing this at their own risk. Also, if NSA peek at your nudes, you're unlikely to ever find out. Therefore, why let it bother you? If it was posted across 4chan or something, I would understand.

Statistically, I think there are more minors than adults on this site. Majority of people are teenagers here. Although, if they're old enough to share them, they're old enough to deal with the consequences, in my opinion.

Lincoln was a bit of a dick - mind you, he started a war because he didn't think that the Southern states should be allowed to exercise rights bestowed upon them, and suspended many civil rights for citizens of the border states.

I won't argue for or against that Lincoln was a dick - but I do agree with his quote. If people can't control their power, it'll control them.

Your point, however, wasn't "look at this great quote by this questionable man", it was "why can't modern politicians be more like this questionable man, who happened to have this quote."

If we're saying that bad people who have good ideas should be followed, we're in for a bad go at it.

Like whom? For examples:

Richard Nixon - Watergate, abuse of power, the list is unending. He was a thief and a liar. He covered up a burglary which was connected later, by the FBI, to his own campaign for re-election. Facing impeachment by the House he resigned. Before his resignation, he was actively trying to cover up the nature of the crimes, which were heard on tape recordings. Best part is, he was officially pardoned by his successor, Gerald R. Ford one month after his resignation.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt - political corruption, frequent over-spending and abuse of public-works projects/funds, Agricultural Adjustment Act. He caused the destruction of farm crops to boost farm prices, purposefully. Among other horrors.

The United States has a vast amount of crimes unanswered that are slowly coming to light, especially when dealing directly with presidential campaigns and terms. The president may just be a face for corporations but that doesn't mean they should get away with anything simply because they didn't "pull the strings".

So I ask again, what is so inexcusably admirable about our former leaders? They're all capable of discerning right from wrong but so far they've all shown their ability to cross the line, but never once to admit that the line exists.
