Interesting idea, although, I can see this becoming something similar to getting notifications to likes on places like Facebook. It becomes something you ignore as it's not something you can write a reply to. It's nice to know if someone is in agreement with you but the like system doesn't appear to show much more than that.

I don't ignore likes on Facebook. I use it as a metric to determine what people like to see from me. If I get lots of likes/feedback on something I know that people like to see that type of content. It also lets me know who is interested in what I post.

I'd say this would be a nice feature to have - but if i recall this is not built into the likes plugin... unless it's been updated to work with the notification system. But the notification system does provide an API for extending it's features, so it may not be hard to further develop the likes plugin to use the notification system.

Fair point. However, if this was to be implemented, the option to turn it of will be important I think.

Are likes really that important to you that you want a notification for it?

Just go to your profile and look for this

Getting a notification every time someone liked your post is 1. redundant 2. I'm sure it'd get annoying after some time 3. someone could spam the shit out of another person with unnecessary notifications

I hadn't considered the possibility of spam. Again, the option to turn them off would be important in this instance too.

I don't think it will be. I can't imagine Oni going through the effort... I know I wouldn't if I were him

If the majority of the active forum ends up disabling it (which is more than likely to happen if this does become a feature), what's the point of it in the first place?

At the moment we seem to have an equal distribution of for/against, so what makes you think its more than likely that the majority will disable it? Simply because you don't like it?
