A Lakewood, Colo., dad thought he was getting his son a special surprise for Christmas, but it turns out that he got far more than he bargained for.

Mark Giles bought his 5-year-old son, Braydon, a refurbished Nintendo 3DS from a local GameStop. When the boy asked his older brother for help deleting some pictures, nine graphic pornographic images were discovered on the toy.

GameStop employees at the store told Giles that the photos belonged to a previous owner and hadn't been removed before the device was resold. The company's corporate branch released a statement about the incident, explaining that the while they have stringent refurbishing policies, things do slip through occasionally.

Giles was given a brand new 3DS and some games, but told KUSA that the damage had already been done.

I think most people would be happy to receive that 3DS, aha. On a more serious note, it's nice to hear Gamestop tried to make reparations by giving them a new console and some games. Generally when I get a used console I'd get rid of old data first, so I think the father should be held somewhat accountable.

I think the Game Stop is more to blame. The dad probably didn't think to look for that, as most dads aren't gamers.

I find this incredibly hilarious. The previous owner must've put all the pr0nz on as a joke. Gamestop doesn't really look at the thing you're giving them, if it's hardware. They just make sure it turns on. They assume you wiped everything from it. Therefore, it is not Gamestop's fault.
