New World - September 28th #1
New World will be coming out on September 28th. A couple months ago there were reports of the game killing people's graphics cards.

Having played most MMOs, I am looking forward to see how Amazon's does. Have it preordered, so I'll be playing at launch.

From what I've heard it's your standard MMO in terms of optimization. I didn't participate in the Beta, but I heard they were working on improving it post-Beta.

Servers have been overloaded all day. For some servers the queues are 20,000+ people long.

New World is still killing GPUs. If you're an RTX 30 series owner, it will be best to stay away from the game for now. Some RTX 20 series cards have been effected, but its been rarely reported.

They really need mounts or something. Too much walking, with little in-between.

Funny how Amazon got blamed. In actuality it's EVGA (and other manufacturer's) fault. They admitted it was a soldering issue, so it's not entirely fair to compare New World with Furmark. Running on 4K/Ultra with a Titan XP, no issues yet. Might be worth using the FPS limiter for those that are using a newer card.

I feel like everybody should be using an FPS limiter these days. Especially as GPUs have getting so powerful. I run RTSS alongside MSI Afterburner. Going without an FPS limiter just causes useless power draw and heat from your GPU, for frames that your monitor most likely cant even display.

Are people still playing new world here?

If you are playing new world, check out https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9asvToGjMH0
The animation cancelling is super helpful as a speed boost. Running around is definitely annoying and that helps a lot, you can get an uninterrupted triple dodge cancel. It depends on ping but timing is in and around 120-170ms on the animation cancelling.

(Funny side note, there was so much botting they even included in the patch notes that they made eac violations really explicit so people didn’t bother fighting the bans).

Still playing casually. Dodge Switching will come in handy for sure. Game would be great if they could improve movement/animations. Didn't realize off the bat how clunky transitioning between actions can be.

It seems New World has had a pretty rough first month:

There's been some pretty bad duplication glitches, alongside a security flaw where chat text wasn't sanitized.
