This release features important security updates to Firefox. We picked up the necessary patches, but because we needed to start building before Mozilla was ready with a first candidate build, we did not bump the Firefox version to 60.2.2esr. Thus, users are fine with Tor Browser 8.5a3 even though the Firefox version is 60.2.1esr.

I already have this version Installed.

I always make sure Tor Is updated. The flashing yellow alert Is extremely handy to Indicate that the browser Is outdated.

Whats the point of using Tor is Tor can be tracked and your IP or identity can still be doxed?

I never understood why people assume its safe anyway? Simply, the fact that the US Navy developed Tor with further developments made by Darpa. It seems like everyone uses the tools they had 20 years ago, lol...

Tor Is an anonymity preventative measure, but by no means does It provide complete anonymity- In fact, no service does.

As long as you're connected via "your" ISP, you can be tracked, Irrespective of tools, methodologies and services used. In terms of VPNs, If your ISP Is Intercepting/rerouting your traffic via transparent DNS proxy, thereby forcing the use of their DNS servers as opposed to the VPNs, no VPN will save you- Irrespective of It's configuration and capacity In anonymizing your connection.

There's a lot more to remaining anonymous, than Installing Tor and hitting the connect button on your VPN. As a very "basic" example, refer to my second post In this thread.
