I would recommend watching the earlier Naruto's before Boruto. Not all episodes though, avoid the fillers.

It's not a must, but you're going to miss out a lot. Boruto is considered worse anyways

Skip all the filler episodes you'll say a lot of time. You can find the list of filler ones online

I think watching Naruto first would give Boruto more depth and perspective and although I generally like Boruto I think it would fall short without that added depth of backstory.
