MyBB Preconfigured Box? #1
I want to try my hand at making some plugins and I need a test server because I don't want to pay for hosting nor setup databases on my laptop. Does anyone know of some good services that don't require Azure keys?

Have you considered Cloud9? They give you small test servers with a really nice IDE plus root access to the VM. (By default no root password for MySQL). The only thing you'd need to do is upload MyBB (Or download and unpack from command line) and then make a DB using command line tools or though something like SQLBuddy or Adminer.

Also consider just asking around. For example, I have 2 years left on my Azure sub, if you needed a machine you could have just asked Smile

Just use Xampp, I read you don't want databases on your PC but why?

They're a pain on Winblows and the OS is really uncooperative with them

I have absolutely no issue whatsoever with them. You're likely doing something wrong.

Idk, must be me then. I tried installing MySQL a handful of times and got fed up with it.

If you're literally just wanting to test plugins and not try to run a forum on it, 000webhost is perfect. It's free webhosting and comes with cPanel so you can just upload MyBB yourself and that way you can live modify core MyBB units whilst adding in your own plugins. It's a bit sluggish, but for a no-cash option it's your best bet.

I'm thinking either that or c9, which I already have an account on
