I hate online views, they add the extra step of navigating to the download page.

Not really. It has the 'Download' button at the top, and download links you still have to press the 'Download' button, so the same amount of steps...

No, when you click download it takes you to the download page, where you get to load a bunch of ads (and one pop-up). Then you click download. It's one extra step.
