Masturbation Addiction #1
We have all masturbated, and we all masturbate. But not a lot of us know it is an addiction. You will not be able to live normaly without it. Is it like a drug? I think it is. It is highly addictive.
Just like you, I have discovered masturbation at age 12-13. I am 17 now. And, for the last 5 years, I have been masturbating almost every day. Was there ever a month without masturbation? I guess not. It became a habit.
The "high" from masturbation addiction comes from the flood of chemicals that are released into the brain during orgasm. As the brain begins to crave this "high," the addict trains himself to climax quicker and more often. In addition, the addict becomes accustomed to the sensations of masturbation, sometimes to the point that "normal" sexual activity is not satisfying. Woody Allen had a line in one of his movies: "I'm good at sex; I practice a lot when I'm alone." While that may come across as a funny line, it underscores the physical problem with masturbation. By practicing masturbation, the addict becomes accomplished at short, intense activity with a quick climax. Unfortunately, this isn't very satisfying to a spouse in a sexual relationship.
The easiest way to tell if you have an addiction to masturbation would be to stop. Try to abstain from masturbation, or any other form of sex outside of marriage, for 30 days. If you are able to go this long without masturbating on your first try, you are probably not addicted. However you may want to consider quitting anyway for the sake of your relationships. If, like me, you find yourself barely able to go more than two or three days, you appear to have an addiction problem. Since masturbation affects the body, soul, and spirit; recovery must take place in all three areas. The physical recovery involves abstinence. We've already mentioned above that this is a difficult or impossible thing on our own. So we need the emotional support that can only come from reaching out to other people for accountability. This could include counseling with a Christian counselor experienced in sexual addiction issues. This can be a frightening step, in that masturbation addiction tends to be a secret sin, and there is a feeling of shame in admitting this struggle. And that feeling of shame can also keep us from asking forgiveness from the One who gives it freely. But that spiritual healing and renewal is a critical part of the recovery process.
Stopping a masturbation addiction won't hit you like a lightning bolt out of the blue. It's a process that requires work and dedication, and you might make mistakes or relapse from time to time. The real struggle is rededicating yourself to your goal after you slip up, so commit now that you won't let temporary mistakes stand in your way.

Stoping this addiction won't happen over night. It is a process. How can you stop it?

NEVER touch the private parts of your body except when going to the toilet or when washing them! Your genitals are dirty, nasty, evil, filthy parts of your body.

Avoid being alone as much as possible. Find good company and stay in this good company. If the good company seems hesitant to have you along with them, be persistent. Just hang around with them no matter what. They will get use to you sooner or later.

If you are associated with other persons having this same problem, YOU MUST BREAK OFF THEIR FRIENDSHIP. Never associate with other people having the same weakness. Don't suppose that two of you will quit together, you never will.

This can even lead to "mutual masturbation" for which you will surely go to hell! And I'm talking about mutual masturbation with the opposite sex. If you practice it with the same sex, you have even bigger problems than just masturbating. Especially if you like it.

You must get away from people of that kind. Just to be in their presence will keep your problem foremost in your mind. The problem must be taken OUT OF YOUR MIND for that is where it really exists. Your mind must be on other and more wholesome things.

If any of your present friends have pimples, yellow teeth, runny noses or excessive ear wax, avoid them like the measles!

When you bathe, never, never, never admire yourself in a mirror. Never stay in the bath more than five or six minutes -- just long enough to bathe and dry and dress. Take icy cold showers so you won't want to stay in the shower very long. Dry your private parts VERY VERY QUICKLY, AND THEN GET OUT OF THE BATHROOM into a room where you will have some member of your family present. ALWAYS leave the bathroom door OPEN!

When in bed, if that is where you have your problem for the most part, dress yourself for the night so securely that you cannot easily touch your vital parts, and so that it would be difficult and time consuming for you to remove those clothes. Wear several layers of pants and put each layer on BACKWARDS so that there is no opening for you to access your private parts. By the time you start to remove protective clothing you wll have sufficiently controlled your thinking so that the temptation will leave you.

Remember, your mother isn't stupid. When she washes your clothes and bedding, don't think she doesn't notice those stains on the sheets or how one sock is stuck together on the inside and the other one is not.

And if you don't have a cold 365 days a year, how will you explain the constant pile of dirty tissues in the wastebasket and on the floor?

If the temptation seems overpowering while you are in bed, GET OUT OF BED AND GO INTO THE KITCHEN AND FIX YOURSELF A SNACK, even if it is in the middle of the night, and even if you are not hungry, and despite your fears of gaining weight. Better to be fat than to go to Hell!

DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT EVER use mayonnaise on your sandwich. It will trigger thoughts of other things which you must avoid thinking about. If you are a female, stay away from the hot dogs, carrots, cucumbers and Italian sausage! And girls, NEVER put a candle on the table and light it, pretending you have class. Candles are used for only one purpose and you know what that is!

The purpose behind this suggestion is that you GET YOUR MIND ON SOMETHING ELSE. You are the subject of your thoughts, so to speak.

Never read pornographic material. Stay away from the Old Testament stories about King David! Never read about your problem. Keep it out of mind. Remember -- "First a thought, then an act." Get rid of any magazines like Playboy or Playgirl or, if you are a gay male, Boy's Life.

Another solution would be to work on your social interaction skills, particularly with girls. Once you get laid, I doubt you would feel the need to masturbate so much.
