Mass Shooting in Orlando Nightclub

Just been watching it on the news: Looks like some info is now starting to come out. The attacker worked for G4S (a UK based security firm) and was able to access guns through them. From what's been said, it looks like insufficient background checks were made. He got a gun despite the fact he was on FBI radar. To me that just shows how the background checks don't work unless done properly.

Due to the way the Constitution works, it's impossible to deny someone their Second Amendment rights just because they exercise their First. Pledging allegiance to ISIS isn't in and of itself illegal, so even if he's "on the radar" they can't do much but observe.

Last I saw on the TV, 50 were dead, and more than 50 injured. Apparently the shooter worked at G4S Secure Solutions for an extended period of time. It's sad that events like this continue to take place.

Perhaps you've got a point there. Then, how could this have been prevented? Ensuring the club had armed security? There's going to be a lot of finger pointing, and I wonder what could have led to the prevention of this attack.

Also, does that also reflect on how our authorities are unable to pursue dangerous people due to a lack of evidence? Those policies and laws are there to protect innocent people from being targeted or misjudged by authorities but then it's got the flipside of not being able to hold down people who aren't innocent. It's a tough one for all the officials working on it, I must say. I'm glad I don't work for the police.

What about people in the club? Are you allowed to carry when at a club?

As far as I'm aware, it's illegal to carry if they have a bar or serve alcohol. Businesses may also choose to prohibit carrying.

Unfortunately that sounds nice in of itself but its where the problem lies. As not everyone will keep the guns only for a time of need.

Yeah so far as I know it was only illegal to have a Gun at the bar.

I can't think of anything to be said that hasn't been said, but man all that stuff sucks...

...not to derail the thread too much, but then the good 'ol Westboro Baptist Church has to do what they do best, and use the event as an opportunity to show off their whole "God Hates Fags" campaign to the world. Seriously, I don't know why you'd support Westboro but I guess everyone has their opinions. (Even if they're pretty dumb (Or so I think)) Here's an article on that bit.
