We have Discord, which works quite well. Using an embedded live chat would probably clutter the site a bit. The same goes for the whole post goal area on the homepage. It adds clutter, and would be better on it own page. For chat that would be Discord.

Yeah, I like keeping the home page pretty minimal.
+ I don't want to think about the loading times with an embedded livechat.

Live chats are awful, in my opinion. Use the Discord or use the forum.

Actually, we once had a live chat. However, it was removed. I think the Discord chat is much nicer to use and it has a lot more features such a voice that are useful.
