Lifehacks and infothread. #1
This thread is dedicated for ease of life of making small things less difficult, improving your lifestyle and general efficiency tips for everything and anything. If there's anything you've learned that you'd like to share here, don't be afraid to help out anyone else!

Before and After Bed

- If you set your alarm clock farther from your bed, you'll be forced to get out of bed to turn it off, rather than hitting snooze/turning it off half-awake and risking oversleeping.

- You can usually tell if someone has their priorities straightened out by what they do first thing in the morning. If you're the type to wake up and head straight to the games/computer, you ought to rethink your priorities.

- Don't eat sugar before going to bed - this raises the chance for bad dreams or nightmares.

- Release sexual tension at least once a month on minimum. This will prevent wet dreams and embarrassing situations with your undergarments, especially if someone notices before you do.

Restaurants

- When ordering at a restaurant that has a soda machine for the public, order the kids' cup/smallest one. There's no point in getting anything larger and spending money, when you can get unlimited refills.

- If you're ordering french fries and want a fresh batch cooked on the spot, ask for it without salt. They'll make a hot, new bunch and you can add your own salt as you want it.

- If you visit a certain restaurant often, try making friends with the employees there. You'll get great benefits such as discounts, and even free food occasionally.

- On the flip side, never express disdain toward the employees. If you have a problem, be courteous and civil about it. If it's something with the food, don't blame the waiters/waitresses. If it's bad service, ask to speak to the manager. If you make a scene and return, chances are, you'll have even worse service than before or worse, they'll do something to your order.

Social

- Some of the indicators that someone may be lying to you are shifting eyes when you look at them directly, fidgeting fingers or hiding their hands from sight. Don't assume that doing one or more of these things means they are, but note it's more often than not.

- When talking with people, either strangers or friends, always smile and keep a positive demeanor around them. For the former, they'll have a higher impression of you when first meeting you; for the latter, they'll find you more enjoyable to hang around just because of your expression. Believe it or not, smiles are contagious.

- Do at least one good deed to a stranger once a week. Along with impressing others who see you doing it, paying it forward pays off and you never know when a stranger might return the favor. Check out the movie Pay It Forward if you haven't for some inspirational stuff.

- Don't be afraid to talk to new people. The worst case scenario is that they'll be busy and brush you off. If you don't know what to say, just do simple small talk - "Hey, how are you?", "What do you do/what do you study?". Eventually you'll have common ground on a subject you're both interested in and you'll hit it off from there.

I'll add more as they come along, but don't feel obligated to put your posts in this format.

This thread reminded me of a "lifehack" I saw one time.

Spoiler: Lifehack
Baby crying? Put it in the microwave on high for 30 minutes. This will sooth the baby, and make it feel as if it's still inside the womb, as it is warm. It will also make the baby stop crying for the rest of it's life, once it gets past the age of 5, it will most likely not be crying by then, and will be perfectly fine.

You're awesome @Duubz, but I'm trying to keep this informative as possible.

Internet Discussion/Etiquette

- Type with proper grammar, and don't shortcut words to get your point across. If people can't read it, they can't discuss it, especially if half the talk is about if you used "they're, their or there" correctly.

- If you have an established profile anywhere on the internet, people will judge everything you say, no matter where you post, contrary to real life. They don't have any basis on who you are except by your words on the internet.

Cleanliness

- Having a clean living space can reflect how you feel - dirty rooms tend to make people more lazy and depressed, while cleaner, organized rooms will do the opposite. Think of it this way - you wouldn't spend 30 minutes eating in a dirty restaurant, why would you want to spend 1/4+ more of your life inside a dirty living quarters?

- If you think a room is unorganize, chances are, it is, and so will anyone else who comes into your home.

Bathrooms and Toilets

- When preparing to have company over, the first thing you should clean is your bathroom. A person's impression of you will drop extremely if you can't keep a spotless mirror, a tidy sink and a clean toilet inside your own house.

- If you're a guy, wipe the rim of your toilet after using urinating, even if you think you didn't splash. Some minuscule drops you can't see will eventually dry up leaving those gross yellow dry spots, which are gross to look at, and more annoying to clean up when dry.

- On that note, don't defile a public toilet more than it already has. If it was already disgusting to begin with for you, why would you make it worse for the next person?

- Washing your hands, while it kills germs and is general etiquette, also removes much of that caked fingernail dirt from accumulating.

- If you have to poop, place about two layers of folded toilet paper on the surface of the water. This will prevent that disgusting backsplash from hitting your rear, while also preventing those "streak marks" inside the toilet bowl.

Aww, thanks.

- Like listening to music? This might be for you.

In class, wire your phone through your hoodie, making the ear buds go under the bottom, all the way back through the top, and through the sleeve. Then, hold a single bud in your hand and put it up against your cheek as if you were bored in class.
Make sure the volume isn't too loud, or someone else might here and report you. Also, make sure your ringer is off. Seriously, if you're going to have your phone on and in use, do it strategically.

Additionally, anyone with long hair can just use that to their advantage.

I know I sure use it to my advantage. You could also scratch your neck or head a few times to make it seem like you don't have any ear buds. And also, might want to tape it to your wrist, since they might fall too far out of your palm and become visible when making it seem like you're actually paying attention.

Use chopsticks to eat cheetos. It actually works, if you are good at using chopsticks. I was skeptical, but it actually worked.

I already do this, but someplaces I have problems with finding a power-plug at a suitable distance apart.

1. You get infinite refills? As in that's the restaurant's policy, or just take some?
Because I know here in Europe it's not the policy in most places.

2. That's very clever. Also, eating them like that might save your heart :3

3. Yeah, if you're a regular, you'll get things like free coffee and stuff. Also, tip well to get better service and "treats" (last night we had dinner, and because we tipped well, we got free shots(

1. That depends on two things - the person, and the way they're looking. Looking down (usually) means that they're thinking about their emotions / emotional things, whereas looking up means visual qualities (such as imagining objects, etc.) Looking to the Right would be creative, and Left memory. *HOWEVER: note that for some people these quantities are inverted*

2. This depends on the country/culture. In northern countries, it might be intrusive, and seen as unpolite. However, if you know the culture, and it's okay, go ahead, never a bad idea.

SOCIAL:

Try to look into people's eyes, whenever talking, or even walking down a street. You'll seem more confident.

Always try to keep good posture, same reason as above.

and DO NOT start headbanging/moving to the music. Not a good Idea.
