Thanks !
I'm actually using Virtualbox not VMware, there are much less of them (not totally convinced that's a good sign ?).
The last one is more than 1 year old and was because COM interface was not secured (which was an obvious one).
Anyway there are still some risks but .... Yeah I actually wouldn't recommend it to anybody, but for me, I don't really care
(hmm I shouldn't say that, now people are gonna try to infect me ahah)
there are many common things about the free products out there, hence you are the product and/or they don't have much devs/effort to them . moreover the paid products have more work/devs on them (should be) and they should have less problems or exploits. which exploit Db doesn't agree with me on this point haha.
I don't believe this is true (generalising about free/paid products). Just look at the huge exploits there has been in Mac OS, look at how insecure are Spotify Deezer and shit, etc.
I'm not saying that free products are safer of course, just that you can't generalise about that ! Plus about the lack of devs, open-source products do fix that problem.
"hence you are the product", that's true for lots of free services, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't apply for Virtualbox
Have a look at Signal for example. That's a free product, and an awesome example in terms of privacy, clean code, best practises, etc. And apparently you're not even the product as it's a non-profit association !
EDIT : Buttt we went far off the subject, let's go back to SpyNote
