John McAfee Indicted for Tax Evasion #1
John McAfee was recently indicted for tax evasion.

Those that remember, he said he would "cut [his] dick off on national TV" twice, based on his predictions for Bitcoin. He was also accused of murder and wanted by the Belize police a few years ago, as well. The more time passes, it's harder to believe he was the founder of the popular antivirus.

Quote:An indictment was unsealed today charging John David McAfee with tax evasion and willful failure to file tax returns, announced Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Richard E. Zuckerman of the Justice Department’s Tax Division and U.S. Attorney D. Michael Dunavant for the Western District of Tennessee. The June 15, 2020 indictment was unsealed following McAfee’s arrest in Spain where he is pending extradition.

According to the indictment, John McAfee earned millions in income from promoting cryptocurrencies, consulting work, speaking engagements, and selling the rights to his life story for a documentary. From 2014 to 2018, McAfee allegedly failed to file tax returns, despite receiving considerable income from these sources. The indictment does not allege that during these years McAfee received any income or had any connection with the anti-virus company bearing his name.

According to the indictment, McAfee allegedly evaded his tax liability by directing his income to be paid into bank accounts and cryptocurrency exchange accounts in the names of nominees. The indictment further alleges McAfee attempted to evade the IRS by concealing assets, including real property, a vehicle, and a yacht, in the names of others.

If convicted, McAfee faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison on each count of tax evasion and a maximum sentence of one year in prison on each count of willful failure to file a tax return. McAfee also faces a period of supervised release, restitution, and monetary penalties.

An indictment merely alleges that crimes have been committed. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Zuckerman and U.S. Attorney Dunavant commended special agents of IRS-Criminal Investigation, who conducted the investigation, and Trial Attorney William Guappone of the Tax Division and Assistant U.S. Attorneys Matthew Wilson and Damon Griffin, who are prosecuting the case.

Additional information about the Tax Division and its enforcement efforts may be found on the Division’s website.

If my memory serves me correctly, I believe you posted this a while ago.

It makes you wonder how many others are guilty of tax evasion, but yet to be Identified.

Through the reports you don't hear much about those who were paying him, either. Tongue

Well Ive listened to the man a lot and have learend tons from him. Not only do I agree about the tax laws being criminal, but I also agree with his concerns about the future of mankind. His idea is to resist a corrupt government and avoid paying taxes... so many wealthy people are. And tbh, I do not blame them one bit.

Show me case laws where it was upheld that the IRS has the upper hand?

There are several cases where the IRS lost and the individuals won in the courts: people vs irs

I knew this was coming cause crypto is fucking up the entire fractional reserve banking cartel! This is just the beginning too. They will go for the wealthiest first and then everyone else next. And John is not the first grab up either...

Being on the wrong side of the law is pretty normal for him.

I was about to say as much. Of all the people being done for tax evasion, this one really doesn't surprise me. As interesting as McAfee is, I think he's nuts.

Tax is a part of life. Breaking the law isn't going to change that. Face reality folks.

If you want to change tax law, get invested in discussing with policy and lawmakers, vote, and create real change. However, I don't know if McAfee would give a toss about that per se lol.

He doesn't and probably never will. If he did, he wouldn't be accused of tax evasion.

You've absolutely nailed It.

Those who believe that they can do as they please with their tax, are under a total misapprehension.
