Japanese kid found alive in a forest #1
Interesting story. I wonder if this happened in England, would child services have taken the child away?

Quote:A seven-year-old boy who went missing in bear-inhabited forests in northern Japan after his parents apparently abandoned him as punishment, has been found alive.

Yamato Tanooka was found by chance by military personnel in a hut on one of its exercise areas 5km from where he is believed to have gone missing and had sustained only cuts.

Child services definitely has him.

That's pretty fucked, lucky he was found. The parents better get some jail time for that, the article had no mentions of repercussions

Doesn't look like they're being punished. Perhaps things run very differently there. I know in some countries, some things are just not viewed in the same light. It is in the culture for parents to put their kids under a lot of pressure so I wonder if this isn't as abnormal there.

The parents are apologizing up, down, and sideways and promised really hard to never, ever, ever mistreat their kid again, so I hope the kid gets to stay with them. Mistakes shouldn't be punished with complete loss of your children, that is devestating to a parent.

To be honest, as long as they are good parents generally, I wouldn't want him to be taken away from them. It kinda made me realise how a single action could lead to you losing your children and it's a rather scary thought. Whether it be through losing them in a forest or through officials. Makes me glad I don't have kids.

From the website:

Quote:after his parents said they made him get out of their car on a mountain road because he was misbehaving.

Seriously? So they basically dumped him and left him for dead (so to speak). Forget child services, the parents should be locked up. The poor child could've died.

Yeah. This is a blatant mistreatment of the child.

They should at least be investigated as to make sure the child is safe. Apologizing to the public is one thing, but treatment at home in private is a whole different story.
