I was just contemplating this myself, but opted for 16 rather than 32. The most I do is stream music, have a VM or two running, web browsing, and maybe photoshop open at once. Everything still runs smoothly. I figured by the time I would truly need 32 gigs of ram, the price would be less anyways. I'd stick with 16 and spend that extra $100 somewhere else on your pc.

it depends on what you are doing.
as an example, if you're doing gaming, you'll never need more than 16GB of RAM.
If you like to do video editing while working on some 3D rendering on AutoCAD as an example (me), you'll probably need 32GB and probably more.
I use 24GB of RAM and consider upgrading to a 64GB set.

I would go for 32GB RAM myself for sure.
I think in the future, the requirements of RAM will rise, so why not buying it now.
Also, I use alot of RAM intensive applications myself, hence I would pick this

I decided to go with 32GB when I built my machine. I didn't need it at the time but eventually I went with things like ramdisk caching, running multiple VMs, and a fuckton of chrome tabs and I'm glad I had it. I actually ended up needing to replace it with 32GB of faster memory. I'd say it's always a good idea in today's society, especially if microsoft keeps building memory hogs disguised as operating systems.

I do believe in the long run it will be worth it, RAM (at least where I am) isn't too expensive at the moment either and would help a lot when video editing, running virtual machines and just multitasking in general.

I use 32 gigs but only because I often do some data science that often handles HUGE amount of data and python prototypes does not have an effective RAM handling (strings are always 59 + length bytes etc). But when I port it into C, 16G is 99% enough even for big data.

The only real reasons you would need that much RAM right now is if you are running many VMs or you are doing video editing. Otherwise 16GB is plenty.

32gb of RAM is a dream when it comes to heavy editing on Adobe AE, or gaming
Honestly. I would rather have excess than too little.
