Just going to reiterate, it really depends what you plan on using it for. 8GB is good for gaming and light video editing. 16GB is good for poorly optimized games and moderate to heavy video editing and rendering. 32GB is basically overkill for gaming no matter what and the only way you'll use most of that is if you're editing video while rendering with a shit ton of background programs open. I'd say probably go with 2 sticks of 8GB, and if you feel like you need more then you can always buy more.

I don't use anything less than 32GB on my machines. RAM is cheap, I'd rather have 30% too much than even 1% too little. Fury-X 32GB DDR4 is incredibly cheap, and they make really good memory.

That's also not true.. More RAM can be intelligently used for drive caching to increase throughput. Not everybody can be running NVMe drives (my god I'll never go back), and even modern SSD's are slow. Like I said before, it's cheap, you might as well go a little overboard.

Maybe I'm biased because I live in Canada and I have to pay 8000$ more than Americans on everything. That RAM comes out to 443 CAD$ for me which is the price of a GTX 1060 and 16GB of RAM up here.

Edit: Just checked Newegg and that RAM is still around 440$ but Corsair's new LED 32GB is 360$ CAD but that is still a GTX 1060 alone. Would rather 16GB and a nice video card. Doubt many people on this forum need that performance but I wouldn't judge if someone got that much and actually had a use for it.

CAD AUS and NZ all have it bad when it comes to hardware. Sad I would get 32gb but I render a lot so that's my logic.

Oh....yeah, that does change things a bit. I also spend an obscene amount of money on computer stuff, have this thing for always being on latest gen hardware

If I wasn't a high school student I'd be the exact same but alas I can't even afford staying updated every 2 years.

I've been in that boat... At one point my paychecks averaged $7

If you can afford the extra cost, then go for it. Whether or not you use it now does not matter too much, it's more of will it break the bank.

Unless you're using a lot of RAM intensive programs, then save your money.
Has anyone seen my berries?
