It is unlikely to happen. We all are so dependent on internet in daily basis. The progress in internet is growing in such a way that there is no chance of global shutdown.

The internet isn't one entity, it's a collection of billions of servers, websites, images, and plaintext. Servers may go down on occasion, but if they are consistently monitored, they'll be back up within hours. I find the idea of the entire internet going down, very unlikely.

Exactly this!

Think about road networks. We could say, as there are more and more people on earth, won't all of our road networks collapse? Well, that hasn't happened. It's not one singular entity as said above. It's made up of lots of different segments, which are improved, built up and expanding all the time. Roads didn't disappear, they got re-laid and made larger. The same will happen with the cables and data centres that make up the internet.

Internet collapse, not really. More people isn't really an issue as routing hardware's fairly amazing these days even on low end gear.

One thing worth considering though is how completely dependent most sites are on ads. There's actually a good book about this called Subprime Attention Crisis. It essentially discusses how unstable adtech is and the slowly growing reality of large corporations realizing they don't have to pay for attention.

I can't handle ads. If I need something, I'll do It via my own volition and not because an annoying ad Is flickering In my face.

In terms of sites that solely rely on ads, I'm a firm believer that If they can't afford to put It online, don't expect others to do It for them.

With the infrastructure and technology we have, it is possible impossible for internet to shutdown. Unless or otherwise a massive damage occurs.

I cannot even imagine in my wildest dreams that such a thing will happen. I mean, if internet collapses even for a few seconds, just imagine how bad business will be effected. Losses will be in billions, if not more. Even our own personal and public life will be affected in some way or other. Our world today is so much dependant on the internet that it will be a complete chaos everywhere.
