Being top poster is just a title it doesn't affect your profile much; being or not. Moreover traffic should be visible and feel like forum is active. I suggested @Oni to bring hide tags but as he says they're useless. If hide tags are back members will feel much active and top poster will be different. Plus it helps to sell upgrades. I don't know, it's up to admin; want to make money or not.

People that post "thanks for this post" would just end up becoming the top posters. It's not all about the numbers.

paying points to view content. since point system is already here. it will be useful. not to all section but for some sections this will be usefull. and members will be active cuz they have to earn or buy credits

It's an interesting suggestion to reduce the need for the "thanks for this post" posts, but then they'd go do that on other threads to build the NSP so I'm not sure it's the right move.

We did implement some gentle rules around the bumps to avoid all out spam, but most do keep within the rules. We've also made requests from sellers to condense some of their threads where possible, but this isn't feasible on a larger scale for every seller than bumps threads.

My question on this is: Does it matter who has "top poster"? Do people feel it promotes a level of prestige or is it something people don't look at as much? Would be interested to gauge the viewpoints of the wider community to see what level of impact it has.

Hello Jiggly, if I am 100% honest it is pure vanity on my part. There are precisely 2 posters in the top 10 who are not vendors spamming bumps. Its obvious who the other poster is. I like the thunderbolt icon and I hate having it removed purely because of vendor bumps.

Deception is a tool best used sparingly. Here's a question I think you might be able to answer... When I hit diamond will I be able to fully realise my vanity and have both the bolt and the Diamond symbols beside my name or just one ?

I'm pretty sure it only shows one. I believe it will show top poster over the diamond icon.
