I think there was a SL IRC at one point...
Now everyone just uses Discord (we should leave, discord is closed source).
Get discord and join the server a the top of this site.

n1nj4c I usually hang/idle in ##linux or ##security on freenode. IRC is still a good source of communication/knowledge. I still go there for help when I'm having issues with my rig or to help others with their bugs.

Just join the discord.
The people are nice there, there's some user customization, and you can get the app too.
Join the good fun times.

You're on ##linux? What's your handle? I hangout on ##linux, #anime, #programming, those are my goto rooms
SL used to have an IRC and I hosted an IRC for the IDE usergroup not too long ago. I ran out of money to host it though and it's really no use because discord is better for this kind of stuff anyway

My handle is l34kfr34k. Yours? I haven't join Discord yet, I still favor IRC. I like to remain anonymous too. Are VPNs and Tor allowed with Discord? I have absolutely no knowledge of Discord.

Thanks. I've joined the ##linux channel, however the ##security channel requires invitation?

i'm insidious15 (I have some form of insidious on most of everything I use)
I'm pretty sure you can use VPN/and or TOR with discord. I don't see any reason why you can't, its certainly not explicitly disallowed.

No problem. #lesswrong is also a pretty good channel to kill time.
