Quote:Medics in Haiti are preparing for a likely surge in cholera cases as the nation is left with damaged water supplies in the wake of Hurricane Matthew.

The deadly hurricane has battered the Caribbean, with Haiti the worst-hit.

Officials have said the number killed on the island nation has risen to 339 while more than 3,200 homes have been destroyed.

Some 21,000 survivors are now seeking refuge at just 152 shelters as the deadly storm moves on towards the US east coast.

You'll understand eventually.

I couldn't agree more.

On topic, we tend to complain about the most trivial things, and looking at this, we should appreciate how lucky we are not to be In that scenario.

Some of us might've been in a similiar scenario in the past. Perhaps lost a parent in a gruesome way, a sibling or were dragged into an accident(s). Such events often cause depravity for all I know.

It was a little childish of me to reply in such a manner earlier, but I felt like adding something to it.

I certainly agree.

My previous post was generally speaking, and not aimed at any particular audience.

I don't think people understand the magnitude of this storm...

We are going to lose a lot of lifes if the dumb asses in Florida don't move their asses. Then again, natural selection.

I have friends in Florida, although I've learned a number are safe already. Universities are all shut down. Hopefully they don't have as much damage/looting where I lived.

It's not as though it's the first hurricane that ever hit Florida. Natural selection, it is.

I'm totally shocked. Coming from a part of the world where huge scale natural disasters aren't common, I underestimated this hurricane. I find it absolutely crazy that people aren't evacuating.

Part of me also wants to ask, why the fuck do they live there?
Since this was once a topic I learned about in school, I've known the answer for a long time. Yet, I think a false sense of security may have a lot to do with it. I know I could never bring myself to live near the San Andreas Fault etc...
