Problem with revolutions is they get hijacked by dictators and you end up with worse leaders than you started out with. Very few exceptions.
So basically you nailed it: most people just want to do what their "leaders" tell them. So.... learn to think for yourself.

If it doesn't benefit me, personally, I don't bother doing it.

I agree with you bro. Even tho you reach that level of understanding and keep going. It's just gonna be you, people around you are not really cut out for that. You gotta find the balance to fit in as well. That's the world u live in. You don't wanna be in a paranoid group of ppl. Even when you are in a small group, its hard to still maintain that. Its hard to learn when you are in a group + their morals and all changing? Hard to even be stable around ppl when you advance. Learning don't stop. To fit in a group, limits you. You gotta find the balance to handle this solo and maintain relationships based upon what they could handle. I been going through the same shit. So I am figuring it out as well.
