How does the website make money?

So i was wondering this for a long time, how does the website make money if you do not pay for upgrades? Where does the money come from to pay web hosting, domain, anything else the owner might use. I was just wondering.

I paid for my website with my own money to keep it free to use back when it was active. As far as this, no idea.

Most sites have upgrades and you have to pay for upgrades and with that money they pay for web hosting and since on this site you upgrade in SP i would like to know how everything gets paid.

Are you referring to this site? This is completely non-profit. Oni pays out of his own back-pocket and doesn't make any money on the forum. I believe donations would always be appreciated but yeah, it doesn't make money.

The only money the site gets, is through donations, and they all go back into the site.

either upgrades as you mentioned. Or donations. Websites with large communities/userbases can gather up quite a bit of donations.

Oni, you can't even say you run on donations, because you don't get that many (which isn't right).
He's not omni and isn't trying to make money off SL by using upgrades.
There's one ad on the bottom of the page I think.
Onigod pays for SL with his own money.
