Homosexuality [DEBATE] #1
Homosexuals deserve the privilege of having the same legal rights and societal treatement as heterosexuals, state your position on the prompt and explain why you take that stance. Your posts may be subject to refutation or criticism.

I disagree, here's why.

Spoiler:
If homosexuality is comparable to infertility, then it is a disability.
If homosexuality is comparable to straight people engaging in oral sex, then it is a fetish.
If homosexuality is comparable to friendships with the same gender, why do they have sex?
If homosexuality is safe, why do homosexuals spread the most STDs and literally tear apart each others’ sphincters?
If homosexuality is a valid means of romantic bonding, why does nature disallow them reproduction?
If homosexual ā€œloveā€ is as pure as natural love, why are gays so much more promiscuous?
If there is nothing inherently wrong with being a homosexual, why would an entirely homosexual society cease to exist beyond a single generation?

The fact of the matter is that homosexuality is a byproduct of genetic errors in nature. Errors occur in nature all the time, and homosexuality is a perfect example of error. Somewhere in the brain of every homosexual a critical error has occurred. In what other situation is an error encouraged or rewarded as it is in homosexuality in today’s media? You may ask yourself how this error affects you. The answer is simple. Homosexuality, despite what you are told to believe, can be indoctrinated. Why do you think the rate of children who ā€œturn outā€ gay skyrockets in the presence of gay ā€œparentsā€? The push for indoctrination within recent years has been quite evident through the use of protests, pride marches, and even homosexual characters being placed within children's movies and cartoons. The ironic side of it is that heterosexual pride marches are shunned and spoken out against by the homosexual community, yet heterosexuals shouldn't be allowed to do the same to homosexuals. If that isn't an obvious sign of indoctrination then I don't know what is.

I believe that, instead of enabling their actions by normalizing and glorifying homosexuality, homosexuals should be seeking therapeutic help. Giving beer to an alcoholic does not solve their drinking problem. Providing food for an overeater does not solve their eating problem. Taking a gambler to a casino does not solve their gambling problem.

RE: Homosexuality [DEBATE] #2
From previous experiences of engaging in debate topics with you, I think myself and several members of the forum probably don't even want to go there. I don't mean that offensively, but I genuinely get a headache when I debate anything with you.

I do have two questions that I want to ask, to find out what your stance is on them.

1) I get the idea of homosexuality being considered unnatural. Biologically our bodies are meant to reproduce between members of the opposite sex. However, why is it important to prevent homosexuality? This planet certainly does not need an increase in population (quite the opposite). I do know there are studies that support the idea that more STIs are transferred between gay couples, but I believe that is more an issue of not being either educated about safe sex or not taking care to use preventative measures. Teenage pregnancies are now more common than ever, and are rarely a good thing, yet we don't stop teenagers having relationships. I'd love to hear an explanation of your beliefs on that matter. Don't worry about citing articles from the internet somewhere unless there's a statistic you're quoting. I'm not especially interested in going through a million articles on the matter. xD

2) Do you think homosexuality is actually harmful to society as a whole? Globally, locally, nationally and so on. Are there not other larger concerns that would be something you'd action before something like this? Personally, I have never been negatively affected by homosexuals, while I have been negatively affected by straight couples. I've found that to be more of a personality issue than actually relating to their sexuality. That's an example of a correlation without causation.

Never said that. I actually said the exact opposite, you can read it in the OP.

Quote:However, why is it important to prevent homosexuality?

Read the OP.

Quote:This planet certainly does not need an increase in population (quite the opposite)

Are you implying that homosexuality is the solution to that? Birth rates have been declining for a while now, overpopulation is no longer a significant problem. The problem with a purely homosexual society is mentioned in the OP.

Quote:I do know there are studies that support the idea that more STIs are transferred between gay couples, but I believe that is more an issue of not being either educated about safe sex or not taking care to use preventative measures.

All STD contraction is due to failure to protect yourself sexually, nobody is denying that. However, when it's a statistically proven fact that homosexuals contract disproportionately more STDs than heterosexual people when engaging in sexual intercourse, obviously the homosexual attribute of the intercourse is playing a significant role with regards to the contraction of these diseases and infections.

Quote:Teenage pregnancies are now more common than ever, and are rarely a good thing, yet we don't stop teenagers having relationships. I'd love to hear an explanation of your beliefs on that matter.

Very few people encourage teenagers to have sex, in fact, it's illegal and punishable in most cases, therefore it is discouraged. Teenage pregnancies are the primary reason why abortions exist. If you're comparing this to relationships between homosexuals then I don't know why, because they're not even close to the same thing. You can read the OP if you want to know why.

Quote:Don't worry about citing articles from the internet somewhere unless there's a statistic you're quoting. I'm not especially interested in going through a million articles on the matter. xD

The overwhelming majority of those articles have references at the bottom of the page which include their citations. Others are written by accredited psychologists with college educations, which is the best citation you'll get for information regarding the matter of whether homosexuality is a mental illness or not. Choosing not to read them and then claiming I'm wrong is your decision, won't change the fact that they're statistics and statistics with large sample sizes generally don't have bias.

Quote:Do you think homosexuality is actually harmful to society as a whole? Globally, locally, nationally and so on. Are there not other larger concerns that would be something you'd action before something like this?

Read the OP. Also, just because there are larger concerns doesn't mean this isn't a concern or that this concern shouldn't be dealt with properly. That's called the logical fallacy of relative privation.

Quote:Personally, I have never been negatively affected by homosexuals, while I have been negatively affected by straight couples. I've found that to be more of a personality issue than actually relating to their sexuality. That's an example of a correlation without causation.

Your anecdotal evidence doesn't amount to credible information. I explained in the OP how people are affected by homosexuality and why it's bad thing. You should read it.

It's encouraged that you read the original post before asking me questions so that I can refrain from repeating what I've already stated.

Ok, your reaction to my post goes to prove why people don't like doing this. I did not say you said it was unnatural, I referred to a common perception socially. I did read the OP and did not feel like I fully understood why you felt that way. I did not read through the articles because there are far too many. I wanted an opinion not a research list xD
Dw, no, I'm not implying homosexuality is a solution to overpopulation. The number of STD contractions in homosexual couples will of course be higher. They do not need to worry about pregnancy and are less likely to think about protection - but that was my point xD
The teenage pregnancies was just me being sarcastic - it is not the same thing. However, teenagers having sex is legal in many places in the world, at a particular age.
To clarify: I am not disputing your sources. I am not saying you are wrong, or than any of your sources are wrong. Please read my comments more carefully and stop assuming I'm implying or saying things I'm not. I clearly stated that I was wanting your stance, not a dispute. I'd recommend against saying "read the OP" since I did, and if I am asking you questions, you either misread/misunderstood my questions or were not clear in your original post. There was limited information that you actually stated yourself. What you did do is link the articles. As I have already stated, I was interested in what you said personally, and not another expert or study or article.

I suppose I should be more clear. The purpose of my response was more to gauge how you came to hold your views. Is it something you've just learned about over time after reading about it? Did you have this view from a young age? Is it based on personal experiences you've had? I'm not interested in deciding whether you are "right" or "wrong". I am curious as to how you came to your viewpoint in the first place.

Btw, my anecdote wasn't very relevant I know. It was more a thought that amused me than an argument.

I'm not interested in debating this, and while I admire the effort you put into this thread, I have to ask: why do you - personally, not from a societal or global view - care?

From what I gather, you're far removed from any and all homosexual behavior, so how are you affected by it? Is it so wrong to live and let live purely because you have conflicting views?
It's often the outcasts, the iconoclasts ... those who have the least to lose because they
don't have much in the first place, who feel the new currents and ride them the farthest.

When you make a statement in direct response to me and what I've said such as "I get the idea of homosexuality being considered unnatural," there is actually a very heavy implication that you think I stated that, which is why I responded the way I did. Also, I told you to read the OP numerous times because nearly every question you asked or every request you made was answered or fulfilled in the OP. If I have offended you in any way with my responses then I should let you know that I don't intentionally go out of my way to offend people anymore, and if you feel like I'm trying to offend you with anything I say then it's probably unintentional on my end and just you perceiving my words as offensive.

Here's why I believe almost everything that I do: I tend to avoid and stray away from emotional sides of arguments as much as possible, there's nothing I've said here or almost anywhere else that isn't backed by some sort of logical appeal. I have never read anything which supports, encourages, or normalizes homosexuality that hasn't used an emotional appeal such as "they're human too" or "everyone deserves equal rights," etc., nor have I read or seen anything which contradicts studies or statistics that are included in the articles which I listed above with the exception of the dispute among psychologists regarding whether homosexuality should be considered a mental illness or not.

TL;DR - you will never find me siding with a viewpoint that challenges the most logical side of the argument

I don't read articles and opinions of others pertaining to homosexuality- that's Immaterial to my very own views.

Irrespective of their nature, homosexuals are people just like you and I. They've simply taken another direction towards their sexuality. Bottom line, I believe they should be treated equally.

You have a good point. I started that terribly - Perhaps I should work on proof-reading my posts! My apologies. I didn't feel like you explained why homosexuality was a negative to other people in the OP so much. You definitely outlined how it harms people who are homosexual themselves. I suspect the affect on other people is explained in articles you linked, from the looks of the titles. Correct me if I'm wrong there. Again, I apologise for the nature of my reply. Unfortunately, I am very susceptible to taking things personally. The way you post is quite clinical (for want of a better word). It's difficult to see read it without assuming it's said harshly, which is my problem, not yours I guess!

I got that sense from you, which is what I think made me curious. I wondered if there was some sort of focusing event that got you interested enough to follow through with finding more evidence. I appreciate your reply on that and I wish I'd asked you that question in the first place! To be honest, I think the "human side", as it's often described, can make debates like these very challenging. People want to be empathetic which can often distract from objectivity, so I believe I understand your viewpoint.

I was kinda wondering about that too. Which is mostly what my second post was getting at. I had initially wondered if there was a bad experience that piqued interest in the matter.

I care personally because homosexuality is strongly indoctrinated at the school I go to and yes, I am affected by it. If you had asked why I cared on a societal and global level, my response would've been that I care about eradicating degeneracy among humans, which homosexuality is a great example of.

Quote:From what I gather, you're far removed from any and all homosexual behavior, so how are you affected by it?

You just asked me how I'm personally affected by homosexuality and in the same post, told me that I'm far removed from homosexual behavior.

Quote:Is it so wrong to live and let live purely because you have conflicting views?

In some cases, doing nothing about something bad is just as bad as doing something to support whatever is bad. Also, the reason why I engage on debates over the internet (and real life, for that matter) is because I want to see if there are arguments I haven't yet heard, so that if I'm revealed to be wrong about something, I can change my mind. It's one thing to let something live that will most likely literally never affect you or humanity as a whole, such as maybe a small group at a school, it's a different thing to not bother something such as homosexuality which is for one, degenerate, and two currently being forcefully indoctrinated, normalized, and glorified among youth and society as a whole.

You're right, I do type very explicitly. The reason for that is just because I try to avoid trivialities such as trying to seem enthusiastic or excited or happy or whatever when I'm typing in a debate, because I don't see showing emotion in an internet debate as very necessary for getting my point across. I'm much different in real life I promise.
