Home remedies #1
So I have a nasty cold. I'm hoping it isn't developing into something worse but I feel seriously rough.
I wondered if any one knew any home remedies to relieve symptoms?
I find painkillers reduce pain but don't completely numb it. Lemsip *cough* should be banned, it's vile *cough* and other over the counter cold medicines have zero effects.

I have heard rumours that peeling an onion and placing it by your bedside table is supposed to relieve symptoms and clear up breathing (although the rumours also say the onion goes black by morning)... Has anyone ever tried this or other secret remedies?

If it's breathing problems, there's some jelly like stuff called Vicks Vapor Rub that has always helped me. (I've been on an inhaler all of my life with CHRONIC asthma.)

Steam does wonders for congestion. Just run a hot shower and sit in the bathroom for a bit.

Vapor Rub works very well. Z-Paks are great, if you can get them.

I agree that Vicks VapoRub does make a huge difference. I've been using It since childhood, and It Is fast-acting that provides a great degree of relief.

Also, If you're staying Indoors, you must air out the room (open windows) to clear the germs circulating around. There are also disinfectant sprays that kills gems.
Edit: Typo.

Nice advice... Although, I would need to do that before going in there. It's far too cold here to be in a room with an open window xD

You're welcome, I do hope you get better soon.

I've had nasty colds (headache, fever etc), and It really puts a damper on things. It almost stops you In your tracks. In conjunction with other remedies mentioned, just remember to circulate your room with fresh, clean air- even If It's for 15 minutes or so, It will make a huge difference.

Do a one minute plank. Or as long as you can go if you can't do one that long.

What, the large amount you recommended?
