I did pretty much exactly that, except I'm using my USB HDD to boot into multiple distro's/OS's ...could that be making a difference?

Ok try this, plug in you USB then restart your notebook and start pressing ESC when window shows up choose your device.

Yeah, I can boot it fine, I even get the Ubuntu/BT start-up screen, after I select which mode to boot BT into (stealth, forensics etc.) it comes up with that screen, kind of annoying because I wanted to install it, or at least use it as a live USB.

I am not sure what is the problem, format you USB and try all again also follow youtube tutorial.

I've had that same issue before, it looks like your image is corrupted try re downloading and re doing the USB image

Yeah it's a corrupt image, I assume you used Unetbootin to install to the flash drive? That does happen occasionally with Unetbootin. I've had a couple run-ins with that problem. Unfortunately, the only thing to do is take another hour or so and re-download the software. Maybe even use a different USB installer. I know there is a guide some where to make a persistent USB boot, pretty handy when you're on the move a lot.

corrupt image...you can try with hash calculator and compare it with hash on dl page...
if it isn't same then re-dl file again...

for live usb dl unetbootin
for live cd/dvd the best imo is infrarecorder....
