Hardening Windows 10 #1
Looked around and came across this guide. Thought it would benefit Windows 10 users. I'm sure some or most of the security tips should work for Windows below 10 however. Nonetheless, enjoy.

Going by the thread's title, I thought I've come across this before but I haven't.

Although I'm proficient on any version of the Windows platform, no doubt they'll be quite a bit of Info that I'm not aware of. I'm glad they've mentioned VeraCrypt- I strongly recommend It to secure your data. If you create a VerCrypt volume (container), make sure to back It up on a regular basis. It has failed/corrupted on me on a single occasion. It may well have been my hardware, but as with all data, It's good practice to perform regular backups.

Thanks for this, much appreciated.

You're welcome.

There are many resources going by the similar titles so I can understand that. I pick thread titles that are kinda brief and simple. I have yet to actually try out VeraCrypt but I've read about it and thanks for the heads up.

Do you encrypt your backups?
Do you have any recomendations on backup tools?
Btw: I'm talking about physical backups (not the cloud)

Should you need help with VeraCrypt, just shoot me a PM. That said, It's not too difficult to setup and use. I'm quite sure you'll be fine.

I create an encrypted volume (container), and all data Is stored In that container.

I simply transfer the actual container to a removable device (HDD) and do that periodically as needed.

Oh. I used to do that, but when I bought my new laptop I opted for full disk encryption.

I also have full disk encryption via BitLocker on all my systems and In the event of failure, I've got a recovery key that's locally stored In a safe place.

I use VeraCrypt on the very same PCs (and my external devices) and "only" save, read and write data between all devices on the VeraCrypt volumes.
