This is totally True! Young Hackers will do and install anything to make his Trojan Sever and Port forwarding working. Njrat as mentioned in the article is one of RAT used for variety and is very popular among middle east hackers. This RAT was the first tools I used and still used by too many hackers around.

Quote:Someone has been trojanizing a wide variety of hacking tools to compromise the machines of hackers who want to use the tools for free, Cybereason researcher Amit Serper has revealed.

Among the trojanized hacking tools are exploit scanners, tools for performing SQL injections, account checkers (tools for brute forcing accounts), and so on, as well as cracks/key generators for them.

The individual or group behind this scheme is offering the trojanized tools on various hacking forums and websites, and hosting them on hacked WordPress sites.

The identity of the threat actor is unknown, but there is a good possibility they might be located in Vietnam: not only has one of the C&C/download domains (capeturk.com) the njRat contacts been registered by a Vietnamese individual, but someone from Vietnam is constantly testing the malicious samples by submitting them to VirusTotal.

Oh yes, this has been going on for a very long time. A lot of cracked software is infected with trojans. But with the right source, you can find clean software. Trojan malware is much more common than traditional viruses now. It gives much more control and more options to hackers. It also gives an outlet for script kiddies who don't know a thing about programming.

Simply put, (meaning) the opposite of what you'd expect.

I was getting my tools from friends around and never seen a good source tho. it is quite hard to find a one.

I still deal with crackers named CORE (Challenge Of Reverse Engineering) and Black Riders, both of which are clean and reputable.

There was a very Impressive team named "Edge", who used to RE every Norton product available. All of a sudden, they disappeared off the net. This was around 6 years ago.
