That's happened to me with my old laptop... It wouldn't lock without shutting down, so I just stayed near it all the time...
Except for one time when @CC.py decided to add himself to a Discord server I never invited him to... (although eventually I did invite him)

I didn't lock it because I mistakenly trusted my friends.

I used to be really anal about locking my computers, eventually people have come to an understanding that if they touch my computer or my car they could get stabbed. At this point many of my local passwords are placeholders.
