You could also get an AMD card, but I'm not sure which of their cards would be in that price range.

amd works quite well with linux. you can get to lower level architecture than team green. thats one big thing that amd's got on nvidia.

Well that's a cpu. Their gpus are much better. That's why all those bit mining rigs back in 2013-2014 used amd gpu's. Raw horsepower was much better than nvidia.

I got a GTX 970 from EVGA. ACX cooler, reference clocks. It kicks ass, and so glad I got this.
