That's provided the MOBO accommodates It.

16 GB Is the minimum nowadays.
yes, thats why i told him if you only find 8Gb you can add another one yourself doesn't need to buy it 16 from the first purchase because can be more expensive.
Good advice.

If It has 4 Ram slots, then 32 GB Is certainly worth considering. I'm running this capacity on my laptop, and still have 2 slots spare.

That's impressive actually. I'm currently using a 10 year old laptop with 32GB RAM... For reasons I do not know. Nothing I use this for requires anywhere close to 32GB. The other components are much to old (or not powerful enough) to keep up with any program/game that would need RAM like this xD

That's Insane. 32 GB for a 10-year-old laptop Is almost nonexistent.

In terms of my usability, I run simultaneous VMs, which chew a lot of memory. As you can see In the Image above, I have the option to hit 64 GB.

I noticed! Which made it all the more impressive. Your RAM set up does make sense for your use.

This laptop is intended for gamers, and was high-end at the time it was released. I get the feeling they installed 32GB of RAM... Because they could!

True, i was gonna explain the same reason too , for me 32Gb is considered medium because of the need to use more than one VM simultaneously and also you don't want to affect the performance of the main OP. i tested i7 with 8Gb ram and opened one VM (win 7 ) it works pretty fine at the beginning but when you get little bit tasky on the main OP it will freeze. so 8Gb is not considered a good option at all even with the majority of top played games, for me if you gonna do programming, creating games or playing games i recommend at least 16 Gb for 2666 MHz Ram.

You've made some very valid points, and I certainly agree with having at least 16 GB of Ram.

Due to advancements In computing, there's more demand on system resources and memory Is the first to feel the Impact.

It does appear he received a lemon, unless there was user error.

I've had an excellent track record with Asus. 2 laptops, 3 monitors, 10yrs worth of motherboards.
